Polarization holography has been extensively applied in many fields, such as optical science, metrology, and biochemistry, due to its property of polarization modulation. However, the modulated polarization state of diffracted light corresponds strictly to that of incident light one by one. Here, a kind of tunable polarization holographic grating has been designed in terms of Jones matrices, and intensity-based polarization manipulation has been realized experimentally. The proposed tunable polarization holographic grating is recorded on an azobenzene liquid-crystalline film by a pair of coherent light beams with orthogonal polarization states and asymmetrically controlled intensities. It is found that the diffracted light can be actively manipulated from linearly to circularly polarized based on the light intensity of the recording holographic field when the polarization state of incident light keeps constant. Our work could enrich the field of light manipulation and holography.

基于扩展标量衍射理论,同时对于透射和反射的情况,考虑了入射光的方位角(即锥面衍射),推导了闪耀光栅任意衍射级次的相对衍射效率。证明在分别以平面和介质分界面为界对闪耀光栅运用扩展标量理论时,得到的相对衍射效率公式不同,但是得到的最优化深度和闪耀波长相同,并给出了相应的显式表达式。以特定参数的闪耀光栅为例,分别将两种相对衍射效率公式与严格耦合波理论进行了比较,结果表明,两种公式差距很小,且均和严格耦合波理论结果符合得很好。

In this Letter, an all-optical logic sequence generator based on two different polarization holographic gratings has been proposed and demonstrated, which has one input port and four output ports. The polarization state of input light signal determines logic output signals. It can produce four kinds of logic sequence output signals: 1000, 0100, 0010, and 0001, corresponding to the input light signal of four different polarization states: the p-linear, s-linear, left-handed circular, and right-handed circular. The two polarization gratings have been fabricated, and the working principle of the logic sequence generator has been proved by diffraction pattern analysis of polarization gratings.

Through anisotropic Ag overgrowth on the surface of Au nanobipyramids (AuNBPs), high-purity and sizecontrolled Ag nanorods (Au/AgNRs) are obtained by a simplified purification process. The diameters of the Au/AgNRs are determined by the size of the as-prepared AuNBPs, and the lengths of the Au/AgNRs are tunableusing different amounts of Ag precursor in the growth solution. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) studies using Rhodamine-6G (R6G) as a test molecule indicate that the Au/AgNRs have excellent sensing potential. A polarization holographic grating, which integrates the functions of a grating and a wave plate and is called a diffractive wave plate, is recorded by two beams (left and right circularly polarized) of a 532 nm laser in an azo polymer with a liquid-crystal structure. The polarization conversion characteristics of the diffractive wave plates are investigated with a detecting light of 650 nm by metering the polarization state of first-order diffracted light. It is confirmed that the diffractive wave plates convert the incident linear polarization into circular polarization for a linearly polarized probe laser and reverse the sense of rotation of the circular polarization when the detecting light is circularly polarized light.

基于偶氮苯聚合物的光致异构和光致取向特性,开展了双偶氮苯功能化聚合物薄膜表面微结构的“刻写”研究.利用两束相干光照射,在样品表面“刻写”出了亚微米量级的光栅结构;利用分步法在样品表面制作出了清晰的“三角格子”等花样微结构,证明了双偶氮苯功能化聚合物对于表面微结构的制作有较强的可操作性.通过对比单偶氮和双偶氮材料的实验结果,证明了双偶氮聚合物具有响应时间快、衍射效率高等特点,并由此讨论了偶氮苯聚合物薄膜表面微结构的形成机理及其偏振选择性.

The diffractive field distributions of the dark edge on the negative, the edge of the knife and the single edge of the wire were investigated using photo-multiplier system. The results show that the new diffractive formula with the parameters describing the property of the edge of the diffractive object should be established and that the property of the object may be realized by the investigation of the weak diffractive field distribution of the object.

Patterning of self-assembled monolayer (SAM) was demonstrated by area-selective deposition of SAMs on a pattern made by synchrotron radiation (SR) stimulated etching SiO2 thin films. The etching was conducted by exposing the SiO2 films to SR through a Co contact mask with SF6+O2 as the reaction gas. A dodecene SAM was deposited on the etched surface and an octadecyltrichlorosilane SAM was deposited on the SiO2 surface. The deposited SAMs were densely packed and well ordered, which were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, ellipsometer, and water contact angle.

By measuring the absorption and fluorescence spectra and the fluorescence lifetime of ^{4}F_{3/2} state of Nd^{3+} ions in YVO_{4} (2 at.-{\%}) crystal at different temperature, the effects of temperature on the spectra and the lifetime of ^{4}F_{3/2} state have been investigated. As the temperature is increased, the line width of the ^{4}F_{3/2}-->^4I_{11/2} transitions is found to increase and the spectral line toward the longer wavelength, which are duo to the ion-phonon interaction. The variation fluorescence lifetime of the ^{4}F_{3/2} state of Nd:YVO_{4} is found to be anomalous in the measured range 8-300 K. It is about 81 us at room temperature and decreases to 30 us at 8 K. The experimental results are explained by ascribing to the thermal mixing between the two Stark levels of ^{4}F_{3/2} state with different lifetime.
